Microneedling in Central Oregon
Microneedling harnesses the skin’s natural healing ability by gently puncturing the dermis with microscopic needles. This process can be performed using tools such as the SkinPen® by Bellus Medical, which contain tiny needles that create microchannels in the skin. This initiates the skin’s healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production, and allowing medicated skin care products to penetrate deeply.
Microneedling treatments are designed to rejuvenate your skin, reduce signs of aging, and improve the appearance of acne scars. Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, not only enhances product absorption but also aids in the rejuvenation process, addressing concerns such as acne scars, sunspots, melasma, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and stretch marks. This versatile treatment is effective for improving skin tone and texture. It is effective on various areas, including the neck, arms, décolleté (low neckline), face, and body.
What Should You Expect During Microneedling Treatment?
Your journey begins with an in-depth consultation to understand your goals and concerns. Before microneedling, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. During the treatment, a non-cytotoxic hydrogel is applied to prevent post-treatment skin dryness. Your Aesthetician may recommend additional products to enhance results.
You will receive detailed post-care instructions, and most patients can resume their normal activities the following day. This treatment is suitable for all skin types and tones.
Is There Any Downtime with Microneedling?
Recovery is generally swift, but some mild side effects like redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection sites may occur. Swelling usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours, while bruising may persist for up to two weeks in some cases.
How Many Treatments Are Recommended?
Results vary, but you’ll likely notice improvement after a single session. For optimal results, most patients benefit from 3-6 treatments spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart. To maintain and refresh your results, we suggest scheduling a yearly treatment.
If you’re interested in microneedling or want to explore customized treatment options, please schedule a consultation with a Bend Dermatology Provider in Bend,Oregon. We’re here to help you achieve your skin care goals.
Scary Good Injectables – BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin®
What You Need to Know About Neurotoxin “Wrinkle Reducers”
Botulinum neurotoxin injections are the most popular cosmetic treatment performed. Botulinum toxin is an injectable neurotoxin, usually known by different name brands such as BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin. These products are mainly used to smooth dynamic wrinkles, which form due to repetitive facial movements such as squinting, frowning, and smiling. Neurotoxins are also used for various medical ailments, such as migraines, excessive sweating, and overactive bladder, to name a few.
These cosmetic injections block nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to relax. As a result, your lines are softened or temporarily smoothed. The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin is a purified substance that’s derived from a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum.
A thin needle is used to inject the neurotoxin into the target muscle. The number of injections your Provider uses depends on the area being worked on, the extent of the wrinkles, and the results you are interested in. There is no downtime with these cosmetic treatments, so you can return to your daily routine after your visit.
What do BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin Treat?
Both are FDA-approved to treat facial wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead furrows, and lip lines, and they have a similar safety profile. Which of these products is best for you should be discussed with your Provider at your initial consultation. At Bend Dermatology Clinic, factors such as your medical history, goals, and expectations will be addressed to provide you with the best results possible.
Not everyone is a good candidate for neurotoxin injections. Pregnant or breastfeeding clients are not candidates for these injectables.
What type of results should you expect?
Following treatment, results are seen after a period of time. Depending on the person, product, and amount used, effects are typically seen within three to seven days. Sometimes, maximum results may take up to 14 days after injections.
The duration of results will also vary depending on the person, the area treated, the toxin used, and the amount injected. Typically, the effects last three to four months, after which you can return to maintain your results. Your Provider will repeat your treatment, adjusting dosage as necessary to ensure an optimal outcome.
