Matthew grew up in the small town of Kalama, WA, and knew from a very young age that he wanted to one day serve in the medical field. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Western Washington University, where he also minored in Chemistry. While accruing medical hours for Physician Assistant Graduate School, Matthew gained valuable experience in patient care, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Stroke Unit of a hospital near his hometown. He graduated at the top of his class, earning a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and dog Tulip. He also enjoys lifting weights, playing basketball, and being outdoors (with the proper SPF of course).
